Thanks all of you! I think I'm going to increase my flower planting next year. They do make me feel so much cheerier, especially when I'm facing a hoard of cabbage worms or an infestation of wilt. Top of the list of flowers to increase are zinnias, which I will cut and bring into the house. Right now I just have one pot of them, and they are so pretty.
That is a gorgeous hollyhock you've got there. I've never seen that color--it looks like an apple blossom amaryllis! So, uh, whadya say, JoAnne, are you willing to save some seed for a wannabe hollyhock grower?
Absolutely! I'll be saving some seeds for myself too. I got this hollyhock last fall from a friend who dug it out of her garden for me. She's got lots. I've never grown hollyhocks from seed, though, so I can't help you there!
