Carrot confusion

I just realized that the carrots I planted in my garden last summer, which I thought were Chantenay, were actually Jaune du Doubs.  Oops.  While doing my seed inventory, I saw the open packet and realized my mistake.  This makes a lot more sense, since Jaune du Doubs are long, yellow carrots, which is exactly what I harvested.  Many apologies to my local nursery, whom I accused of mixing varieties in their bulk sacks.

Have to keep things exciting! I was scratching my head at some of my tomatoes last year until I realized the kids had probably mixed up the tags, or all those hands at my seed swap party - actually it was probably them - my kids know better LOL!

Still darn good lookin' carrots! I don't know the Jaune du Doubs at all. Do they have the same flavor as an orange carrot?

The carrots were good, they seemed to have a more carroty flavor, less sweet than orange types. We just ate them cooked, not raw. Some of them were a bit woody. I planted them in May and left them in the ground til November, so perhaps they were allowed to grow too long...
