Sure does help when you start new chicks in a timely manner instead of trying to make it with your older birds for one more year! We're getting 1 or 2 eggs every other day or so (NOT nearly enough for even this small household) and we're kicking ourselves for choosing to not start new chicks last early spring. (How old do we have to get before we get wise??)
Yes! It's lovely to have too many eggs to know what to do with! And with ten less roosters to contend with, less energy is spent evading amorous advances and more energy is spent toward making eggs. Hooray!
