It's called reaching the bottom of the bin. You made it a long time with the size of your family. Good job, Gardener Mom! :o)

I think it's fantastic you were able to feed a whole family throughout the winter, every year you get a bit closer to that magic number of how many to plant, way to go!

Those are some gorgeous taters, coming from the bottom of your barrel! Nice job! But, boo-hoo, too.

5 potatoes, 5 family members. That worked out well.

Mama Pea -- Thanks. I had some smaller spuds that were too soft to eat. Next time I'll know to eat the small ones first!

Erin -- Yeah, it worked out pretty well, despite having blight kill my taters prematurely.

Susan -- Thanks! But yes, it is bitter sweet. Makes me want to go out and plant some more right now!

Lorelei -- Ha! Yes, I planned that all along... not. Makes me think of Laura Ingalls Wilder and The Long Winter, when they ran out of potatoes and each had one last one for their last potato supper. Although I think Pa had two. Thank heavens this long winter is just about over.
