Apologies

Sorry for the abundance of downer posts. Much like I don't like reading about rainbows and roses every day, I'm sure you don't like reading about whines and rants.  I will try to do better in the future.  I can't guarantee anything, especially during a winter like this one, but I will try.

You are not whining or ranting. You're letting some of your honest feelings out. Do you know what happens when pressure builds and builds with no release? There comes a BIG explosion! What you are expressing here on your own blog is perfectly legit and understandable. I have come across blogs that are negative to the nth degree but this is not what yours is. At all. Not even close. What the heck do you think we're all here for? Your support group! All of us need support and I say if you can get it from some of us who understand what you're feeling, take it and ask for more! We don't like those blogs that are so pollyanna-ish it makes your eyes cross, but never sharing sad feelings or stresses or upsetting things in your life also limits the connection we like-minded bloggers have. Gosh, if someone else shows their human side, it kinda makes me feel maybe *I'm* okay, too! (Or at least not as unbalanced as I sometimes fear I am.) :o}

I don't comment often but I have to say I agree with Mama Pea -- you're not whining or ranting. You're expressing yourself about what's going on, and sometimes it's not pretty. It takes courage to share yourself truthfully -- I know because it's something I struggle with -- and you do so very eloquently. You have a wonderful way with words, so please don't self-censor. As the oh-so-wise Mama Pea said, not sharing your whole self limits your connection with others, and that's so very important.

If you gott'a get it out, then get it out. I'm sure most of us have had the same feelings you have had. Life sucks. Life is great. Life is a little weird. Then all over again. But, as much as I hate to say this, That's Life.

Besides, if anybody doesn't want to listen to your "rants", they don't have to! Simple as that.

What Mama Pea and Fiona and Carolyn said.

When I was in college my art prof encouraged me NOT to ever get married - he said there had never been any great women artists who were married and had children. I knew he was wrong, or else I would prove him wrong. During the 20 years of raising my kids when I had no time or money or energy to make art I often remembered his advice a bit ruefully.

However, I wouldn't change a thing; raising your children to be healthy, kind, thoughtful, creative beings is the most challenging, most important work of all. You can feel so mired down in the midst of it, and it often feels unappreciated, but then they are grown up before you know it and you wonder how it flew by so fast. Life doesn't always go according to plan, but odds are you will still get a chance to follow your dreams.I am still pinching myself that I got to become a "farmer" after age 50. And Grandma Moses didn't start painting until her 80s- it is never too late for dreams to come true.

One thing I have learned asI I have gotten older is that however it looks on the surface, nobody's life is perfect -that's the human condition. Although I don't intend to sugarcoat my life, I try to keep my farm blog mostly positive, especially because our farm is open to the community. I cannot count how many people I meet, even total strangers, who think they know everything about me because they read my blog! My strategy is to have another, non-public blog with a different user name where I can vent, write about problems or give myself pep talks.

Anyway, no apology needed. Hang in there.

Don't worry about telling us how you feel. People are always mad if someone goes behind their back but then they never let them say things out loud to their face. You tell it like you see it, we don't have to wonder what you're thinking. And winter is the time when we all feel a bit on edge. So let it out, it's healthy!

Mama Pea -- You rock, lady! You're right, you are the closest thing to a support group that I have!

Fiona -- Thanks so much for the kind words. Like you, I don't leave a lot of comments on other people's blogs but I really appreciate the ones that are left on mine.

Carolyn Renee -- Life is definitely great, and sucky, and weird. Wash, rinse, and repeat. :)

Susan -- What a fantastic story. I'm curious, was this art professor married? Ha! And a great idea to have two blogs, one sunny and one personal. Especially if you are marketing your business online as well.

Erin -- Hahaha! Thanks sweetie!

Rea -- Winter is the season of our discontent, it seems. If we had snow, at least it would be a lot prettier to look at. Maybe I should invest in a greenhouse, just so I could have a bit of green when I need it! Thanks for the pep talk.
