Warning: rant ahead

Begin rant<

I can't stand to read blogs and websites where people spend all their time writing about how beautiful their life is.  Lots of pretty pictures and heartwarming stories.  That's all bollocks, that is.  And it doesn't make any of us who don't have perfect lives feel any better.  What I want to see are the ups AND the downs, the smiles and grimaces, the proud victories and sheepish mistakes.  Otherwise it's just like reading a never-ending Hallmark card.

Whoa! What blogs are you talking about? I want to read them so I can join you. Nobody's life is really like that. Wait, is it?? If so, I wanna be like them. ;o}

I was just sayin the other day how lots of these blogs are bogus because all you ever hear about is the fluffly lovely days. But then I stopped and thought about it and realized that I too have WAY more joyfilled days here on my homestead than not. Maybe because we're all living "the dream" it comes across on our blogs that way?

Hahaha! Although I'm sure at times my readers are wishing I'd hold back a bit... like describing my kids with the norovirus LOL! I'm with you on this rant.

AYE THAT!!!

I lose interest very quickly in froofy, over-slick, highly-ornamented blogs that attempt to MarthaStewartize the ragged-nailed, manure-shoed life of real farmwomen and homesteaders.

I have days when I exult over this chosen life and days when I weep with frustration. It IS hard, sometimes, to write about the hardships and the mistakes, but how do we learn anything at all except by sharing our struggles with each other?

wait- I resemble that remark. I mean, really... my garden is always weed free, I never have dirty dishes on the counter, my children never fight with each other and we would never dream of picking up a pizza on the way home because it's been THAT kind of day. Nope, not ever. um... yeah.... and if you believe that I've got some great beach front real estate I'd like to sell you.

But, like Freedom Acres commented, I am happy living the life we have chosen so I think my blog reflects that. But I do try to be balanced: chickens die, weeds grow, bills add up and, believe it or not, my children are not always angels.

Thanks, all of you! Guess I just needed to get it off my chest. Part of the whole envy thing, too. Although, I don't really want a Martha Stewart life (although a Martha Stewart income would be nice) anyway. Perhaps I'll just stay away from those types of folks until my temper settles down a bit!
